This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic, driven & motivated Catering Operations Manager to join our team as we embark on a journey that that will see us become, over the next few months, a wholly owned external business of the London Borough of Newham enabling us to develop our new name and brand of Juniper Ventures Limited allowing us to tender for external business and develop the already excellent services that we provide.

About the Job

We are looking to recruit a Catering Operations Manager to continue the development and management of our school meals service reporting to the Head of Catering Operations, the successful candidate will be responsible for the day to day management of the Area Catering Team and some direct report services. You would be involved in building client and partner relationships within the service, establishing and monitoring financial controls, auditing the service quality and compliance as well as the day to day service delivery, and have a desire to build on and improve existing standards.

About You

The successful candidate will be able to illustrate considerable experience of multi site management along with excellent verbal and written communication skills. You will also be proficient in Microsoft Office applications including report writing and Excel analysis. You will have a minimum of Level 3 or equivalent Food Safety and Health and Safety qualifications as well as an industry approved management qualification.

You will have a proven track record of team management including previous experience of absence management, team motivation and supporting HR functions. We have an in house training department with whom you would liaise to identify training and development needs. You will also require the ability to:

  • Communicate regularly with customers, and clients
  • Manage all aspects of catering operations at our schools and other commercial outlets
  • Improve and maintain the standards of service and quality of food & customer satisfaction
  • Promote, market and show innovation within our service at all times
  • Supervise, co-ordinate, motivate, train and work with your catering teams to provide an ever improving quality service
  • Manage the financial controls & Profit & Loss accounts at individual locations

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be able to develop, train and motivate catering teams
  • Possess excellent financial acumen
  • Illustrate they have a proven track record in the successful provision of catering services – particularly to education or a commercial environment
  • Be self motivated and able to adapt to a changing environment
  • Be able to evidence excellent people management skills
  • Have previous experience of managing catering teams in a multi site environment
  • Have an eye for detail and a flair with food and customers

Qualifications Required

  • Catering Management / Craft Qualifications to HND or Diploma, or City & Guilds level
  • Current Food Safety & Healthy and Safety – Level 3 equivalent
  • Allergen Awareness
