Catering Design Group (CDG), a UK leading restaurant and commercial catering design company, has secured over £1.5 million pounds of new contract wins within the education sector.

Rugby School is a leading co-educational boarding school in Warwickshire and one of the oldest independent schools in Britain. The school recently acquired the adjacent Bishop Wulstan School, which will now undergo a complete refurbishment to improve facilities for sixth form students.

Young cook Olivia Weir, a student at St Francis of Assisi Catholic Technology College, Aldridge, Walsall, has won the Young Chef of the Year competition, organised by education catering specialist Aspens Services.

Hosted by Grace Academy Coventry in its food technology department, the event saw 18 students from St Francis of Assisi Catholic Technology College, Grace Academy Coventry and North Birmingham Academy cook up a storm.

The Manchester Health Academy in Wythenshawe has become the first in the UK to receive the Children’s Food Trust Award - given to schools and childcare providers who can show how they are championing healthy eating and nutrition for children.

The national accreditation scheme, launched by the charity in March and highlighted in the government’s national School Food Plan earlier this month, is designed to help schools and early years settings show parents their commitment to helping children eat well.

Contract Caterer, Elior UK, has signed a renewal with Charterhouse, one of the leading independent schools in the world, securing its supply of catering and hospitality services to the school for a further five years.

With over 800 pupils aged between 13 and 18 years old, Elior serves up around 18,000 meals a week – three meals a day served across 12 dining rooms from three kitchens with a team of 15 chefs and a total of 60 catering staff on site.
