A showcase lunch last week (31 October) saw the minister for disabled people, Penny Mordaunt “urge hospitality leaders to tap in to the huge pool of talent amongst people with disabilities.”

Pupils from a secondary school in Kirkintilloch, Glasgow, have been crowned the winners of the Scottish Food & Drink Fortnight 2017 schools challenge thanks to their effective use of local and seasonal produce.

The Office of National Statistics (ONS) has revealed that the number of female chefs in the UK has grown by 34% over the past 12 months, despite the fact that less than one in four is still female.

In its analysis of the last five years of employment data, the Office of National Statistics found that the total number of chefs in the UK has risen by 11.3% in the last year, of which male chefs rose by 5.9% and women by 34% - making it the biggest single rise in the past five years.

Ahead of LACA member, Karen Robinson’s, five-day marathon run to celebrate National School Meals Week (NSMW), the association has launched a Just Giving Page to raise funds for the initiative.

Proceeds raised will go directly to the British Heart Foundation, with over £200 raised so far.
