Matt Betts, employed by BMBC Schools Catering Service in Barnsley was announced as the Yorkshire and Humber regional School Chef of the Year sponsored by McDougalls winner yesterday (16 January).

He had 90 minutes to prepare four portions of a main course and a dessert suitable for serving to 11 year olds in school.

The School Chef of the Year sponsored by McDougalls West Midlands winner was revealed as Tanya Malone, employed by Educaterers.

Based at Rugby Free Secondary School in Warwickshire, she will now go on to compete against nine other regional champions in the National Final on 7 March in Stratford Upon Avon. 

Her winning main was a twist of fish, a fish crumble with spaghetti potato and courgette and carrot puree ....

The School Chef of the Year 2019 sponsored by McDougalls, East Midlands regional final winner has been revealed as Sara Franklin from Northampton.

Employed by Radish/Campion School and based at Campion School in Northampton, she won with a chicken and sweet potato tikka masala, lime and coriander rice and cumin and ginger naan bread

Her dessert was a lemon and sultana sponge with lemon frosted topping.

LACA has ‘welcomed’ the launch of Public Health England’s Change4Life campaign, aimed at reducing the sugar intake in children and childhood obesity.

The campaign claims that by making simple everyday swaps, parents can reduce children’s sugar intake from some products, such as yoghurts, drinks and breakfast cereals by half in addition to giving them healthier versions of the food and drinks they enjoy.

On Friday 7 December, Cheryl Allen was revealed at the North West England winner of the School Chef of the Year competition sponsored by McDougalls.
