Contract caterer Taylor Shaw triples its schools business in Stockport

09 Apr 2014

Education catering specialist Taylor Shaw has more than tripled its portfolio of schools in the Stockport area in the last 18 months. Starting with three Stockport primary schools in September 2012, it has since used ‘extremely positive feedback and word of mouth recommendations between school teams’ to sign up a further 11 schools.

Jim Lovett, group managing director at Waterfall Services, Taylor Shaw’s parent company, said: “It is really important that schools are providing children with wholesome and nourishing meals to give them the best chance of being on task in classes.

“The growth of our business in Stockport is testament to our extensive and specialist experience in catering for schools, and the quality of our food and staff.”

The number of children opting for school dinners in all schools in the area has increased and, in one school in particular, uptake has grown by more than 100%.

And at Torkington Road Primary School, the most recent addition to the Stockport roster, the team that began working there in January has already seen demand for school meals increase by more than 60%.

Lovett said that Taylor Shaw regularly hosted sessions for local school teams to enjoy a hot lunch and sample the food on offer.

“The most popular meals for Stockport schoolchildren include Beef Meatballs with Homemade Tomato Sauce and Rice, and Roast Lunch served with Crisp Roast Potatoes and Seasonal Veg Selection.

“The hot nutritious meals are prepared daily using locally sourced ingredients from Stockport suppliers, helping schoolchildren stay focused during afternoon lessons.”
