LACA launches Harvest Festival Wheatsheaf Loaf competition for pupils

15 Sep 2025
LACA has launched its Harvest Festival Wheatsheaf Loaf competition, in partnership with McDougalls, which calls on school pupils to get creative in the kitchen, celebrate the Harvest Festival and compete for prizes that will benefit your school.

Pupils, who can be supported by school caterers or their food technology teachers, have been challenged to create an amazing Wheatsheaf Loaf. Entries must be the pupil’s own work. Assistance from teachers, parents or guardians is permitted for safety and supervision only.

A helpful recipe is available to download, but LACA are encouraging entrants to make the loaf uniquely their own. How to enter:

  • Bake your Wheatsheaf Loaf.
  • Take a clear photo of the finished loaf.
  • Submit your entry online with a short explanation (no more than 100 words) about how the loaf was used to celebrate Harvest Festival.

A panel of judges from LACA and Premier Foods (manufacturer of McDougalls) will choose the winners. Three prizes of £500 will be awarded to spend on equipment for your school kitchen or food technology class.

A LACA spokesperson said: “This competition is open to primary and secondary school pupils, and we would love to see your school get involved.  It’s a fun way to engage students in baking, creativity, and the spirit of Harvest Festival.”
