Premier Foods Foodservice launches ‘unleash Your Imagination’ competition

06 Mar 2025
To mark World Book Day (Thursday 6th March 2025) Premier Foods Foodservice is inviting school pupils and care home residents to unleash their creativity in a national storytelling competition designed to spark fun and adventure through ‘some of the nation’s best loved’ dessert brands.

The ‘Unleash Your Imagination’ competition is centred around Angel Delight and McDougalls Jelly. Whether it’s a story of adventure, a poem or a drawing, the competition is all about sparking fun and adventure through food.

Two competition challenge packs, one for schools and one for care homes, are now available to download via the Premier Foods Foodservice website. Each pack provides a competition brief, an activity sheet and a range of Angel Delight and McDougalls Jelly recipes.

Scott Emmett, education & healthcare lead at Premier Foods Foodservice, said: "We're passionate about enriching lives, which is why we’ve launched this storytelling competition.

“It offers a fantastic opportunity to inspire people, sparking fun and joyful memories through two of our most popular foodservice brands, Angel Delight and McDougalls Jelly. We’re excited to see all the incredible stories, poems and drawings, and look forward to taking the time to reflect on how our brands bring joy to people’s lives.”

To help caterers get creative in the kitchen, the schools challenge pack features advice and top tips from previous School chef of the Year winner Holly Charnock, while the care home pack is fronted by James Clear, hospitality director at Aria Care. The duo will join the judging panel alongside Premier Foods Foodservice experts.

Charnock commented: “Angel Delight and McDougalls Jelly are playful dessert brands and therefore a favourite amongst children. They’re the perfect centrepiece for the school dining room, and as inspiration for young minds to get creative. Our new storytelling competition offers the perfect platform for pupils to showcase their creativity, ultimately sparking fun and adventure through the power of food.”

To complete their entries, schools and care homes must:

  1. Download their respective channel pack via the Premier Foods Foodservice website.
  2. Facilitate a storytelling session for pupils to share their magical stories and for residents to share their wonderful memories.
  3. Purchase a minimum of two (2) cases of any McDougalls jelly (2x3.5kg) or Angel Delight product (12x600g or 6x600g) from any UK catering or foodservice wholesaler, in depot or online. This can be one case of each brand or two of the same.
  4. Submit your chosen pupil / resident story, and a receipt of your wholesale purchase to imagination@williammurray.co.uk

Clear added: “Care chefs work tirelessly to ensure residents receive the nourishment they need, while also fostering a positive mealtime environment.

“Through Premier Foods’ new competition, I’m excited to help care homes across the UK integrate fun, creative storytelling sessions into their residences. Above all else, we want to get residents to have wonderful conversations and reflect on cherished memories tied to both Angel Delight and jelly.”

Entries for Unleash Your Imagination close on Friday 2nd May at 5pm. One winning school and one winning care home will receive a special afternoon tea experience, hosted by Premier Foods Foodservice in June 2025. It will feature a selection of savoury and sweet treats plus a range of different activities.
