School Kitchen’s London Chiswick launch event takes guests on nostalgic journey
The initiative, which repurposes school kitchens when they are not in use, aims to bring communities together and benefit schools at the same time. The new location, the Cricket Pavilion at the Latymer Upper School Sports Grounds, follows the success of School Kitchen’s York site which launched earlier this year.
School Kitchen Chiswick offers dine-in services for people to tuck into a selection of world cuisines including Sri Lankan (Pirivena), Mexican (Quetzalcoatl), Sunday Brunch, Sunday Lunch, and the new School Dinners menu.
The launch event featured a cooking demonstration by Omar Allibhoy, the Spanish chef behind the Tapas Revolution group and contributor to the School Dinners menu. Attendees embraced the theme, wearing their best old-school attire, completing the Headmaster’s Quiz and enjoying 90s and 00s throwback music.
David Nicholson, chief executive and founder of School Kitchen, said: “Seeing the community come together to support our mission at the Chiswick launch has been incredibly heartwarming. We’re excited to offer a space where people can connect over food that does food, and we’re proud to be transforming kitchens into vibrant social hubs.”
School Kitchen plans to expand further, continuing to offer their services in new locations.
