APPG launches Excellence in School Food Awards
The awards provide an opportunity for those working within the school food sector to get some ‘much-deserved’ recognition for their hard work.
MP Sharon Hodgson, chair of the APPG on School Food and lead judge, said: “I am excited to read about the fantastic work being carried out across the country, especially given the difficult circumstances facing those involved in school food.
“Last year’s nominations were a tough lot to judge given the high standards and innovation on display, and I am certain this year will be no different. I look forward to meeting the finalists at the APSE Facilities Management Seminar 2024, good luck.”
The three categories for this year's awards are:
- Groups: An organisation, charity or catering team who have used initiative to serve healthy food to children; an organisation, charity or catering team who have been able to work together to achieve positive outcomes on local communities and children.
- Individuals: An individual who has shown commitment; someone whose ideas and innovation have changed things for the better; someone who has had a significant impact on local communities and children.
- Schools: Either an in-house catering team, head teacher, teacher(s) or support staff – who have come up with a creative initiative to serve healthy food to children within the school setting.
