Bel Foodservice introduces new cookery competition at LACA event

21 Jun 2012

Bel Foodservice is launching a competition at the year’s LACA conference and exhibition, where two lucky Local Education Authorities will win a cookery masterclass with top chef Jean-Christophe Novelli.

Entry details can be found at the Bel Foodservice stand during the event, taking place from 11th to 13th July at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole.

The Bel Foodservice team will also be available on the stand to discuss the value of using branded cheeses on school menus, try samples and discuss serving ideas and recipes.

Adéle Bird, channel marketing manager, Bel Foodservice UK, discusses the importance of branded products when it comes to school meals. "School meal uptake is a continual challenge for caterers, as many parents still opt for packed lunches as a perceived healthier option.

"By incorporating well-known, recognised retail brands such as The Laughing Cow and Mini-Babybel onto the menu, caterers can help attract both parents and children back to the school menu.  The children are supplied with a cheese they know and love and the parents have the reassurance of a brand they trust."

In 2011, Bel Foodservice ran a nationwide schools competition to celebrate 'laughter', the secret ingredient of The Laughing Cow.

The winners were Jona Demiri of Montem Primary School in Islington and Chloe Brenton of Baguley Hall County Primary School in Manchester.

Both girls scooped a £100 book token and a party for their class with The Laughing Cow and James Campbell.
