Big School Bake Off semi-finalists announced
Eighteen school cooks have been named ‘star bakers’, making it through to the semi-final of the 2015 Big School Bake Off competition, supported by Stork and in partnership with LACA.
The shortlisted 18 candidates will have an hour and a half to transform their paper entry into a showstopper during the semi-final bake off at LACA on 9 July.
A team of judges including Jo Wheatley, TV Bake Off Winner, Sylvie Babout, LACA representative and Andy Lagor, business development chef at Unilever Food Solutions, will look for flair, creativity and technical ability.
The eight highest scoring semi-finalists on the day will compete at the grand final at the Unilever Food Solutions’ Kitchen in Leatherhead on Tuesday 29 September.
James Allred, channel marketing manager, Unilever Food Solutions, said: “Tying in with the School Food Plan, Big School Bake Off encourages school cooks to cook from scratch, improving their skills and making them feel a part of the catering industry.
“We want to put the pride back into baking and really celebrate these unsung heroes. We’ve seen some great bakes on paper. I can’t wait to taste them at LACA.”
