Brakes showcases new products at Foodie Expo

20 Jun 2023
Brakes hosted their Foodie Expo in Birmingham and Knutsford where customers experienced new products, discussed innovations in the industry, talked to category specialists and networked with existing and new contacts.

Fronted by head of food development Mark Irish the Brakes stand showcased a daypart dining menu covering breakfast, brunch, deli, and global street food with over 20 dishes packed full of delicious ingredients plus additional sweet and savoury canapés, cheese, artisan breads and juices.

The food on offer included American Style Vegan Pancakes with caramelised banana and mixed berries as well as the Pulled Brisket Sandwich served with chilli butter and corn ribs.

Mandy Van Hagen, marketing manager at Brakes, said: “It was great to see so many customers connecting to share food after such a long absence. Being able to smell and taste food is really important in imaging how it will appear on menus, so it was great that there was a fantastic array of exhibitors on hand to help customers do just that. From the feedback we’ve received, we know that visitors picked up some great insight, enjoyed tasting the food and spending time renewing some old acquaintances.”

As well as the stand from Brakes, there were more than 30 other exhibitors from foodservice brands including Heinz, Little Moons, Nestlé, Kellogg’s, Pladis and many more.

Geoffrey Wilcox, food and beverage manager at The University of Kent, added: “It was well worth the trip to Brakes Food Expo. Hugely educational with global trends and lots of focus on sustainable plant-based innovations… I finally got to meet some online contacts in person.”
