Charlotte Boulton, from Northfield Junior School (Nottinghamshire County Council), has emerged victorious in the East Midlands School Chef of the Year regional final.

The seventh SCOTY regional final took place at Rational’s Kitchen in Cannock. Boulton will receive the £100 prize money as well as a place at the SCOTY national final at the LACA Main Event.

Boulton made gently spiced Yorkshire pudding, filled with roasted Mediterranean veg, chicken and smokey mayo for her main course and a raspberry crumble topped with lemon crème fraiche for her dessert.

The LACA School Chef of the Year competition, which is sponsored by Bisto from Premier Foods, asks chefs to prepare, cook and present four portions of a main course and dessert with a total food cost of £1.70 per head in 90 minutes that meet the School Food Standards and Eat Well Guide.

Sadia Allam, foodservice channel controller at Premier Foods, said: “LACA School Chef of the Year has been one of the highlights of the school catering calendar for many years and so we are excited that Bisto is sponsoring the event again this year.”

The last three SCOTY regional finals are: Yorkshire & Humberside (1st May), North East & Scotland (1st May) and South West (8th May). School meal providers can register for free entry to the School Food Show to watch the national finalists in action.
