Chef manager encourages schools to get involved in British Food Fortnight

01 Sep 2022
Tony Mulgrew, chef manager at Ravenscliffe High School and Sports College in Halifax, has released a short video encouraging schools to take part in the upcoming British Food Fortnight (17th September to 2nd October).

According to Love British Food this year’s event is set to be the 'biggest and most popular yet' with communities and organisations across the country planning to take part. British Food Fortnight aims to celebrate the ‘diverse and delicious’ food that Britain produces.

Mulgrew provides healthy and nutritious school meals to over 220 students split over two sites. In the short video he said: “One of the reasons we will be supporting Love British Food’s British Food Fortnight is the fact that we are passionate about the quality of produce that we use within our kitchen.

“It’s important to us to procure good quality produce across the board and wherever possible. I am pleased to day that for these last 11 years I have been procuring local meats, cheeses, milk and other items. Our British meats come from our local wholesale butcher that is only two miles away from the school.”

Love British Food has created some British Food Fortnight promotional material including posters, stickers and menus for people to download. They can be accessed here.
