New data released this month indicates that the salaries of those working in kitchens went up substantially over the last year.

According to the latest report from specialist staffing company Blue Arrow, commis chefs have seen their wages rise by 16.8% from last year, from £16,554 per annum in 2016 to £17,773 in 2017.

Chefs de partie saw their wages go up 6.4% and sous chefs enjoyed a 4.4% pay rise.

Waiters and bartenders experienced a 7.4% rise in their wages, while the overall average industry salary increased by just 1%.
