04 Jan 2016

Dr Patricia Jane Mucavele, head of nutrition at the Children’s Food Trust Charity has been awarded an OBE for services to children and families and to charity.

Mucavele has been at the forefront of the charity’s work over the last decade developing national school food standards and the first guidelines to help young children eat better.

The Trust’s chairman, Adam Starkey, said: “It’s fair to say that helping children eat better is Tricia’s life’s mission and we’re so proud to have her as part of our team.

“Her commitment to make the changes that will really improve children’s diet in this country are second to none and as a driving force behind evidence-based school food standards and the first national guidelines for food in childcare, her work is making a difference for children all over the country, every day.

“Tricia is a real protector of every child’s right to a good diet and we’re delighted to see her recognised in this way.”

Also on the New Year’s Honours List is Carmel Bridget McConnell, founder of the Magic Breakfast Charity, for services to school food.
