Dagenham school gets celebrity TV doctor visit thanks to Cool Milk
Manor Longbridge School in Dagenham welcomed celebrity TV doctor, Hilary Jones after Cool Milk, the school milk supplier, arranged a visit as part of the company’s campaign to promote the School Food Plan.
Dr Hilary Jones met head teacher Mrs McGorrighan before visiting classrooms and talking to children about why drinking milk at mid-morning break helps to give them a great energy boost.
Barking and Dagenham Council is working with Cool Milk to encourage the uptake of drinkers within their school milk programme. Manor Longbridge School was one of 32 local schools to sign up to receive school milk from Cool Milk.
Dr Hilary Jones, GP and medical advisor to Cool Milk, said: "It’s really important that children and their parents understand drinking milk provides a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for children to build a strong, healthy body, setting them up perfectly for growth into adulthood.
“Not only this, if milk is drunk at mid-morning break, it provides the fuel to aid concentration and support learning right through to lunch, encouraging academic achievement."
Cool Milk operates and administers school milk schemes in partnership with local authority councils across schools, pre-schools, nurseries and PVIs.
