Eden Foodservice launches school drawing competition
Eden Foodservice, part of Interserve, has launched an ‘Art of Food’ drawing competition across primary schools throughout the UK.
The competition aims to support the current curriculum, whilst highlighting the important role school food plays in getting pupils ready to learn.
Paul Salisbury, managing director at Eden, said: “We are committed to creating innovative initiatives that engage and educate pupils on the important role food plays in learning.
“As a competition, we believe the ‘Art of Food’ has key benefits for both pupils and teachers. For the children taking part, it’s an opportunity to express through art, the values they place around food and then see how those feelings resonate.
“For teachers, the competition can not only be adopted to support the school curriculum, but also used as a community project to embody the schools values. We’re very much look forward to seeing all the entries!’
Pupils are being asked to draw a picture depicting how ‘healthy food helps them to learn and play.’
Each school will then select their favourite drawing as a collective, submitting one entry per school by the closing date of 18th January 2016.
Shortlisted by Eden, the finalists will then be shared with a judging panel comprising representatives from the education sector. The winning school will be announced on the February 12th.
The winning school will be rewarded with their drawing being created into a bespoke piece of artwork by a local artist, up to the value of a £1,000.
