Eden gets pupils ready to grow with Back to your Roots initiative
Eden Foodservice, part of Interserve, has launched an initiative to support schools in the process of educating pupils about food, growing, nutrition and cooking.
Paul Salisbury, managing director at Eden, said: “We embrace the importance of children understanding where their food comes from, how to grow their own produce, how to make healthy choices and how to cook. Back to your Roots addresses each of these areas embedding them into the school culture, whilst linking it back to the curriculum.”
Each child will receive a growing journal, which includes activities and projects to be completed throughout the year.
The initiative also works to support The School Food Plan Alliance’s commitment to putting the kitchen at the heart of the school, by ensuring pupils in Key Stages 1-3 receive tuition on cooking and nutrition as part of the National Curriculum.
