Educaterers to take over Warwickshire school meals delivery
Set up by Warwickshire Country Council, which has been providing school meals in the region for over 25 years, Educaterers has taken up the role as part of a new council project.
The council hope that by setting up the stand-alone company, of which it is the sole shareholder, it will have more freedom to compete, bid for new contracts and reinvest back into the business.
As a traded company there is also more "flexibility" to work with local suppliers and producers, according to Educaterers managing director, Terry Tredget.
He said: “We will build on the success and reputation of the council’s school catering service, while being able to operate and compete on a more commercial basis.
“We are committed to delivering a healthy and nutritious catering service that schools can confidently recommend to parents, ensuring pupils have a safe, caring and enjoyable food experience that enables them to reach their full potential.
“Educaterers has got off to a great start with eight schools returning to trade with us and for the first time we have successfully won a contract re-tender against a commercial competitor. This success adds almost half a million to our company turnover."
Educaterers employs over 700 staff across Warwickshire and holds The Soil Association’s Silver Food for Life Award.
