Educaterers wins school meals contract & celebrates Food for Life award

16 Jun 2021
Educaterers has won the contract to provide school meals at St Mary’s Church of England Primary School in Hinckley town centre and it has also retained its Food for Life award from the Soil Association for another year.

The company retained their silver Food for Life status in recognition of the school catering team for serving local and fresh food.

Mrs Rachel Ayres, St Mary’s Church of England Headteacher, said: “I am thrilled to report that the school’s meals supplied by Educaterers have been a huge hit with the children. Today we had 50 more children having school meals than normal. The whole experience has been really good for us and seamless. Seeing the children enjoying their meals so much means a lot to me.”

The Educaterers catering team has been busy serving up to 188 lunches a day from behind the school’s catering counter, which has been decorated with Educaterers’ ‘Nutri Gang’ who encourage children to eat healthy foods.

The last financial year saw ten new contracts won for Educaterers across Leicestershire, Birmingham, Warwickshire, Coventry and Oxfordshire.

Caroline Alexander, managing director of Educaterers, added: “We’ve continued to impress new school customers to win even more contracts like this one in Leicestershire. We’re also pleased that Educaterers and our schools have been recognised by the Soil Association once again.

“I believe it is our desire for growth and innovation, together with our many years of involvement in the school and college catering business, that has brought about these achievements. We are continuing to re-invest in the company and our employees, so our business is not only sustainable but continues to grow, attracting new contracts and additional colleagues.”

The Food for Life scheme rewards schools and their caterers for using locally sourced ingredients that support the local economy and protect the environment.
