Ella Colley to discuss importance of whole-school approach to food at Main Event

25 Jun 2025
On the second day of the LACA Main Event Ella Colley, head of content at the National Government Association (NGA), will explore the importance of monitoring a whole-school approach to food.

The programme and features planned by organisers for this year’s Main Event will address the disparities in school meals funding across the four nations. The LACA Main Event is taking place on 8-9th July at the Birmingham Hilton Metropole.

In her job role, Colley takes the lead on co-ordinating content development across the organisation. She also oversees NGA’s Knowledge Centre, ensuring members can find information and guidance on a range of governance topics.

Colley will explain how the organisation helps governors and trustees to learn about:

  • The governing board's role in monitoring school food provision
  • The impact of school food on pupils' learning, health and wellbeing
  • Building a positive and inclusive school food culture
  • Ensuring compliance with the school food standards

The conference sessions will also explore strategies to ensure that all children and young people receive the very best school food to support their growth and learning. To listen to Colley’s session people will need to register to attend the LACA Main Event as a delegate.

LACA believes that it has never been more important to establish common ground and a collective voice on the importance of school food and the growing pressures operators are facing to provide this vital service.
