Essential Cuisine chefs hit the road for ‘Chefs Adopt a School Week’
Designed to “help children develop healthy eating habits and encourage an enthusiasm and interest in food, cooking, food provenance and sustainability,” this is the second time Chefs Adopt a School and Hospitality in Schools are running ‘Chefs Adopt a School Week.’
Claiming the charities “outreach work has never been more vital,” Essential Cuisine managing director, Nigel Crane, added: “Good diet is such a basic consideration but we must help stave off an epidemic of poor nutrition and give children the tools to make better informed choices.
“One of the first things (Essential Cuisine) does when a chef joins the team is ask them to become a champion of the local schools in their area.
“Engaging with kids at a grass-roots level is not only vital in them understanding the importance of their individual well-being, but is also key to helping them improve and hone basic kitchen skills, which will pay dividends as their lives progress.
“We’re proud that we can give something back and I urge all food businesses to engage with the Royal Academy during this week and beyond.”
Having donated £8,000 to Chefs Adopt a School last year, Essential Cuisine chefs will be working with schools across Cheshire, Staffordshire, Hampshire and Gloucestershire this time around, with the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts chief executive, Sara Jayne Stanes, commending the company for its “magnificent demonstration of support to emphasise the importance of getting (children) interested cooking from an early age.”
