Food for Life calls on Government to #SaveOurStandards

30 Sep 2020
Food for Life are concerned that food standards could plummet if trade deals allow unregulated imports.

The accreditation scheme aims to ensure that people of all ages and backgrounds have access to nutritious food. The Food for Life logo means all the ingredients in the meals are of a high welfare standard. The minimum requirements include free-range eggs, Red Tractor meat and MSC certified fish.

Food for Life joined BiteBack2030 in their latest campaign, which is being fronted by Jamie Oliver and Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall. The campaign calls on the Government to save our food standards and protect children’s health.

BiteBack2020 warned the wrong type of trade deals could mean British farmers and producers might not be able to compete with products that would be illegal to produce in the UK.

According to Food for Life by cutting corners to save money on production it can lead to poor conditions for animals and more carcinogens in our food which goes against everything they stand for.
