The FoodTalk Show, the weekly, online talk show, has launched a new awards programme to celebrate innovation in food technology.

Entries for The FoodTalk Awards open on March 7th for businesses based in the UK and that have been trading for at least a year. Categories include ‘what’s in store’, for smart gadgets and tech, and ‘gourmet guerrilla’, for healthier options in factory-produced food.

Sue Nelson, founder and presenter of FoodTalk and leader of Tech London Advocates Food Tech Working Group, said: “One day I thought ‘Why isn’t anyone handing out gongs to these utterly brilliant people? People who make cheese and chutneys are getting awards all the time.’

“I love all food and I totally support the idea that superb traditional foods should be applauded but what about the people who are pushing the boundaries and taking food forward? And what about the technology that’s actually changing the way we live and cook?”

The winners of each category, which will be announced at an awards ceremony in June at London’s Oxo Tower, will be featured in an hour-long special on The FoodTalk Show.

The FoodTalk show is broadcast live every Thursday at 4pm and is available as a podcast on iTunes.
