Harrison achieves silver Food for Life Catering Mark at 147 schools

10 Jun 2015

Harrison Catering Services has achieved the Silver Food for Life Catering Mark for 147 primary, special and nursery schools across the London Boroughs of Bexley, Croydon, Ealing, Lambeth and Southwark.

The company is now serving 40,000 meals each day, which equates to over 7.5 million per year, meeting the silver Catering Mark standards.

Nicola Turk, director of group schools, said: “Harrison’s focus has always been on serving nutritious meals made from scratch using fresh, seasonal ingredients, so moving from bronze, which we achieved in 2010, to silver was the next step and required only minor adjustments to our purchasing.”

The company focused on increasing its use of organic raw ingredients across different food groups, further reinforcing its commitment to food made from fresh, high-quality ingredients.

The Food for Life Catering Mark originated as part of the Food for Life Partnership, which is working with over 4,500 schools across the country to put fresh, healthy dinners on the school menu and food education in the timetable.
