Harrison catering celebrates Bexley’s 50th birthday

18 Jun 2015

Harrison Catering Services helped the London Borough of Bexley celebrate the 50th anniversary of its founding with the Bexley 50th Birthday Celebration Lunch held at 52 primary schools across the borough.

To make the celebration personal to each school, the caterer, which provides the foodservice for primary, nursery and special schools throughout the borough, had the pupils select the menu for the celebration day by voting for their favourite dishes.

The catering teams worked together to create cakes for a baking competition, which was judged by the Mayor of the London Borough of Bexley, Councillor Sybil Camsey, before being displayed during the birthday lunch.

The team at Mayplace Primary School won first prize for their cake in the shape of the number 50 accompanied by sculpted figures of children enjoying their lunch at dining tables.

Nicola Turk, Harrison’s director of group schools, said: “It’s a privilege to be entrusted to provide school meals for the children of Bexley, and we’re always looking for new ways to make our menus fun for the children and to offer something extra that benefits them, the teachers, the parents and the borough.

“Marking 50 years is an important milestone, and we wanted to do our part to help Bexley celebrate.”

Founded in 1994, Harrison Catering Services is an independent, family-owned company, providing contract catering to clients across the UK.
