HCL celebrates National School Meals Week at Belmont School
Selected by London Mayor Sadiq Khan for a case study on free school meals, Belmont’s students embraced the ‘Feel Good British Lunch’ theme, powering up with veggies to transform into superheroes for the day.
HCL’s chief executive John Want, joined by Vicki Hislop from Bidfood, created a buzz of excitement, rewarding the children with superhero capes for eating their vegetables and singing along to the catchy ‘I love my veggies’ anthem.
He said: “Visiting Belmont School for National School Meals Week was truly inspiring. Seeing the children embrace healthy eating with our Great British Good Food menu, and their enthusiasm for our Superhero Veggie characters, reinforces the importance of nutritious school meals. Together, we're empowering a generation to make healthy choices, and it’s wonderful to see them becoming ‘superheroes’ with every bite.”
Since HCL began providing school meals at Belmont there has been an impressive uptake of free school meals, resulting in more than 90% of the pupils having a meal.
HCL says this proves their approach to school meals brings ‘joy, nutrition, and enthusiasm’ to pupils. Catch the full story on this fantastic celebration here: https://www.hcl.co.uk/post/belmont-school-celebrates-national-school-meals-week-with-superheroes-songs-and-healthy-roasts.
