IFST releases food allergy Fact Sheet

To celebrate the first ever World Food Safety Day, Institute of Food Science & Technology (IFST) has released a new Food Science Fact Sheet on Food Allergies.

It will provide the public with ‘clear, concise and scientifically reliable’ information on allergies.

As food allergies can be problematic for both consumers and those who manage food businesses, the fact sheet answers the following questions:

  • What is a food allergy?
  • What is a food intolerance?
  • What are the major food allergens?
  • How food allergens should be labelled?
