A gathering of businesses and figures within the food industry are to discuss ways of promoting healthier food and drink consumption at the European Parliamentary Sugar Summit in Brussels on 6 September.

High profile retailers, charities and manufacturers will join members of the European Commission, MEPs and members of parliament to discuss ways of making lower sugar options more available, affordable and visible.

Key questions which will be tackled include what evidence is there to suggest that price might be a barrier in affording healthier food and drink and what positive steps can be taken to ensure that Brexit does not negatively impact the European food and drink ecosytem?

Previous Sugar Summit attendees have included Compass Group, Tesco, Caffe Nero, Jamie Oliver Food Group and Children's Food Campaign.
