ISMD aims to encourage children and young people from around the world to connect and talk about the food they eat and the role it plays in their lives.

The theme for ISMD 2022 is ‘celebrating school meals’- sharing ideas, stories and experiences of the past, present and future.  

Schools can get involved in ISMD by creating an international menu day, running fun food activities or by holding fundraising activities to support school feeding programmes in developing countries.

The first ISMD was held in 2013 and it aimed to raise awareness of healthy eating and good nutrition for all children. Through the written word, drawings or photographs children can share their favourite school meal ‘success stories’.
