JJ Food Service extends school meals deal with Newham Council

12 Oct 2017
National wholesaler, JJ Food Service, has renewed its multi-million pound contract to supply school meals in the London Borough of Newham.

The wholesaler has supplied schools in the east London borough with frozen foods and grocery products for the last four years.

Newham provides free school meals to junior pupils as well as infants and holds a Soil Association Food for Life bronze medal catering award.

Michael Hales, managing director of Newham’s school meals service, said: “We are delighted to build on our relationship with JJ. Competitive pricing was key together with JJ’s expertise in technology, enabling us to expand operations in a paperless environment.”

JJ Food Service group general manager, Terry Larkin, added: “This is a testament to all the hard work already being done by our drivers, helpers, loaders, telesales, buyers and customer service teams.”

In Spring 2018, the catering and other services provided by the Newham team will be externalised as a stand-along business under the name of Juniper Ventures Limited.
