LACA, the school food people, has announced that Tanya and Nadim Ednan-Laperouse OBEs have become LACA ambassadors to champion allergen safety in schools.

Nadim and Tanya are the founders of The Natasha Allergy Research Foundation, the UK’s food allergy charity. This partnership marks a significant step forward in ensuring every child receives safe, nutritious meals at school, regardless of dietary needs or allergy status.

Together, LACA and Natasha’s Foundation will work to raise awareness, educate school communities and further equip school caterers and chefs with the tools, training and confidence needed to create allergen-safe meals for all pupils.

With food allergies now affecting around two children in every classroom, the partnership underscores the vital importance of safeguarding pupils’ health and wellbeing during the school day.

Neil Porter, LACA’s business director, said: "This partnership reflects our shared commitment to the highest standards of food safety in schools. Every child deserves to feel safe at lunchtime, and we are proud to welcome Nadim and Tanya Ednan-Laperouse as LACA ambassadors. Together, we will empower school caterers with the knowledge and tools needed to protect young lives.”

LACA has long been committed to supporting school food professionals through guidance, resources, and training that prioritise pupil safety and inclusion. This partnership deepens that commitment, aligning with the Foundation’s mission to create a world where everyone with food allergies can eat with confidence.

Tanya Ednan-Laperouse OBE added: “We are delighted to be partnering with LACA. Ensuring children with food allergies are able to enjoy safe, nutritious lunches at school is vital for their wellbeing and ensures they can fully participate in all activities in and out of the classroom.”

As the partnership unfolds, both organisations will collaborate on initiatives including new training programmes, awareness campaigns and practical resources aimed at school food teams across the UK.

LACA says that this partnership is a powerful step towards creating a safer, more informed environment where no child is left behind due to their allergy.
