LACA chair Judith Gregory makes Public Sector Catering’s ‘Most influential’ list
After shadowing Anita Brown as vice chair of LACA, Gregory stepped up to become the chair of the school food organisation in September 2024.
One of her first actions was to write an open letter to Prime Minister Keir Starmer asking him to address the challenges facing the school food industry in the UK, particularly in England.
Currently the head of school meals for Cardiff Council, in her day job Judith is responsible for 113 schools, works with a central catering team of 17 and has the responsibility for about 450 catering staff.
As the new chair of LACA, the school meals organisation, she intends to continue the messaging around making free school meals funding fairer across the UK, promoting ‘the great work’ that school caterers do throughout the country, and to work with apprenticeships to attract the catering leaders of tomorrow into the education catering sector.
Gregory was named on the list alongside:
- Sadiq Khan, the Mayor of London
- Nicky Joiner, chair of ASSIST FM
- Nadim & Tanya Ednan-Laperouse, founders Natasha Allergy Research Foundation
- Professor Donald Bundy, director of the Global Research Consortium for School Health & Nutrition
- Robin Mills, chief executive of Compass Group UK & Ireland
- Alexia Robinson, founder Love British Food
