LACA encourages pupils to try school meals

09 Nov 2023
LACA, the school food people, are encouraging those children who don’t usually have school meals to try them today as caterers up and down the country celebrate day four of National School Meals Week.

National School Meals Week, which takes placed from 6-10th November, aims to showcase the importance of children receiving a hot, healthy and sustainable school meal.

During a promotional video, chair of LACA Anita Brown said: “We are keen to see what’s new on your menus so please share some pictures. It may not be from today’s menu but from other days or new items that you started at the beginning of the term.

“When we say try something new, what does this mean for you? It could be a new menu item or a new recipe, a new serving point or reducing your carbon footprint. Suppliers what do you have that’s new that you want to make the industry aware of? Please let us know.

“Of course today is also a day to encourage children who haven’t tried meals in the past to give them a go because for them it will be new. We understand the issues and cautions around allergens but what do you do to encourage pupils to stay for a school lunch? We want to hear from you.”
