LACA, the school food people, has announced that the Finishing Touches entry deadline has been extended until Wednesday 7th June to give people the chance to finalise their entries.

Now in its 15th year the competition is aimed at all levels of staff employed in any aspect of education catering capable of producing excellent craft pieces. It provides entrants with the opportunity to show off their skills which would not normally be seen during their everyday profession.

Finishing Touches is a competition organised by LACA in association with the Craft Guild of Chefs. The Finishing Touches Display Salon will take place during the LACA Main Event on Thursday 6th July at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole.

Each Best in Class winner will receive £100 - there are 12 classes to enter. The Best in Show winner will receive a further £250.

Steve Munkley, vice president of the Craft Guild of Chefs, commented: “We are so pleased to be involved with this salon and every year look forward to seeing some of the great dishes and presentation pieces that are put forward. Let’s make sure 2023 is just as good as the last 15 years.”
