08 Apr 2024
Due to a number of requests, LACA has extended the entry deadline to the Grab ‘N’ Go Challenge, sponsored by SchoolGrid, to Wednesday 17th April to enable school chefs more time to enter.

Competitors are required to prepare cook and present four portions of a grab & go/breaktime savoury snack with a total cost per head of 80p.

The team of judges includes chair of judges Mark Sargeant as well as Holly Charnock, Luke Hall and Lin O’Brien. Find out more here and register to take part.

If you have already compiled your entry but are struggling to get student feedback to accompany your submission as schools are closed for Easter holidays, you can submit that before the cook-off stage in May, judges will assess your recipe and photos in the meantime.

Entries will be paper judged with the successful applicants invited to cook-off at a central location week commencing 13th May 2024. Finalists will be invited to the LACA Main Event on Wednesday 3rd July 2024 to cook their grab & go item in a competition environment to decide the winner.

Jody Iske from Queen Ethelburga's Collegiate in York was named as the winner of LACA’s inaugural Grab & Go Challenge following a cook-off at the 2023 Main Event. If you are interested in following in Jody’s footsteps, enter here.
