27 Jun 2024
Jennifer Brown (OCS) from Sarum Academy is one of the three finalists for LACA’s Grab ‘N’ Go Challenge, which is sponsored by SchoolGrid and taking place at the LACA Main Event.

In the final competitors are required to prepare cook and present four portions of a grab & go/breaktime savoury snack with a total cost per head of 80p. Jennifer will create Baked mac and cheese.

First place will receive £500, plus a £500 set of Wüsthof professional chef’s knives donated by SchoolGrid. The overall winner will also enjoy afternoon tea with LACA ambassador Mark as part of their prize.

Jennifer, who has been a school chef for ten years, has also been named as one of the wildcard entries for the School Chef of the Year (SCOTY) competition.

She said: “I work alongside my brilliant team at Sarum Academy secondary school in Salisbury, a job that I am very fortunate to have, as it has given me lots of rewarding opportunities working with, and for the children, providing workshops for them as well as their school meals.

“I have a real passion for food, and pride myself on sustainability, recycling and waste reduction, I am happiest when I am in the country side with my family and dogs, and love to do gardening, foraging, hunting, and fishing. Plates of food always taste better when they have zero miles.”
