LACA pays tribute to Stuart Brereton
Stuart, public sector manager for MKN, was a LACA member for many years. He was regional judge for School Chef of the Year (SCOTY) for several years before becoming national finals judge for the last four years.
He was an inspiration to all entrants, and encouraged them to embrace the opportunity to showcase their talent, creativity, passion and professionalism. MKN have very kindly sponsored the trip to their Headquarters in Germany each year for the winner since 2016.
Stuart was a born organiser and threw himself into all our Welsh regional events both as LACA Wales committee member, and more recently as LACA Wales regional secretary, a role he absolutely loved. He had a knack of making everyone feel welcome and at ease.
Stuart lived life to the full, and his passion for cricket, rugby, golf and football often overlapped into the day job, as he would easily be able to confirm if any of our planned events clashed with major sporting fixtures!
His knowledge, as well as his extensive network of industry contacts, ensured he was always able to help, advise or provide information. He was well respected not just in the school meal industry, but across the whole food service business.
Having known Stuart for over 15 years from the time when MKN combi ovens captured the interest of the school meals service in Cardiff Council, his patience, warmth and humour whilst delivering training sessions ensured all our catering staff were confident and well equipped in operating the equipment.
His passing leaves a huge void. He was taken far too soon. To his wife and daughter, and his extended family, our heartfelt prayers and thoughts are with you at such a sad time. We will all miss him dearly.
RIP Stuart
LACA will be making a contribution to the chosen charity.
