LACA reaffirms calls for Government to increase funding for FSM & UIFSM

LACA chair Brad Pearce has called on the Government to increase funding for free school meals and universal infant free school meals following the news that food inflation reached 18%.
He said: “With record food inflation recorded yesterday of 18%, these stark figures echo what school caterers continue to face having already seen increases on staple ingredients of 50 - 70% over the past year.
“This is why we will continue to urge Government to increase funding for benefit-based free school meals and UIFSM, to ensure all children continue to receive hot, healthy and nutritious meals.”
