LACA responds to Citizens UK report

The School Meals association, LACA, has responded to Citizens UK report on school meals.
The report claimed that secondary school pupils from the most disadvantaged families who are entitled to free school meals lose out on tens of millions of pounds every year in unspent lunch funds.
It said: “The Free School Meals provision is intended to ensure that no child goes hungry, the budget provided ensures the most vulnerable receive hot, healthy and nutritious meals each day. The funding is utilised to cover all food costs as well as labour and other overheads for each meal. LACA believes that this money should be ring-fenced.”
