LACA, the school food people, has announced that food futurologist Dr Morgaine Gaye will give a keynote address titled ‘Future Food Trends’ on day two of the LACA Main Event.

The LACA Main Event is taking place at the Birmingham Hilton Metropole on 8-9th July 2025. To listen to Dr Morgaine Gaye and the other speakers people will need to book to visit as a delegate.

The event will bring together industry professionals to discuss key issues facing school food provision, with a focus on funding disparities and ensuring high-quality meals for all children.

As a food futurologist, Dr Gaye is passionate about what she does because food affects us all - what we eat and what we buy. She looks at food and eating from a social, cultural, economic, trend, branding and geo-political perspective.

Dr Gaye works with all well-known global brands from Mondelez to Mars and Unilever to Nestle. She manages product development and ideation sessions with global teams and innovation chefs. Dr Gaye looks at trends up to ten years in the future and works with texture, branding, packaging and consumer drivers.

Amazon’s on-line ‘shop of the future’, features Morgaine’s predictions as one of two futurologists giving ideas about how we may celebrate and share together in 2050. Dr Gaye has been a part of a recent think tank project for MoD working with global defence forces to prepare for uncertain future scenarios.

Other sessions available to delegates on day two include:

  • National Governance Association (NGA) – monitoring a whole-school approach to food
  • How the UK school food service fairs in a good food revolution and in a global school food context - Professor Don Bundy and Professor Kevin Morgan
