LACA unveils theme & range of features for 2023 Main Event

22 Feb 2023
LACA, the school food people, are looking forward to welcoming school caterers and suppliers back to the Main Event, which is taking place on 5-7th July 2023 at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole.

The theme for the LACA Main Event is ‘If not now, when?’. The LACA Main Event will highlight the reluctance of the Government to address the funding and recruitment issues that are putting the service under threat.

The Main Event delegate programme will include an opening address by LACA chair Brad Pearce, Dr Kate Wilson will discuss the universal impact and challenges of delivering school meals, there will be a four nations debate of the current priorities for the school meals service and Amar Latif will tell his ‘remarkable story’.

Early bird booking rates for full members are available for the two-night residential package including the networking dinner on Wednesday 5th and the Awards dinner on Thursday 6th July.

Visitors can look forward to a range of features at this year’s Main Event, including:

  • The School Food Show: More than 150 companies will be exhibiting showcasing products and services for the whole school meals sector, covering food and beverage, technology, tableware and seating – everything for school caterers under one roof.
  • LACA School Chef of the Year national final: The national final, sponsored by Bisto, will be part of the LACA Main Event again this year.
  • New for 2023: LACA Grab & Go competition final sponsored by Quorn Professionals takes place on Wednesday 5th, with the winner demonstrating their winning dish on the LACA Live stage on Thursday 6th.
  • LACA Awards for Excellence: A highlight of the LACA Main Event, nominations for the 2023 LACA Awards for Excellence will be opening shortly.
  • Finishing Touches: Finishing Touches will return, sponsored again by McDougalls, and giving school caterers the chance to show off their creativity and professional skills. Entries will be opening soon.
