Tim Blowers, LACA’s vice chair and head of Derbyshire catering services, visited Darley Dale Primary School for a fish finger cooking demonstration as part of National School Meals Week.
On Thursday Blowers was joined by 11 pupils as he demonstrated how to make fish fingers from scratch with cod fillet, plain flour, eggs and breadcrumbs. Pupils asked about sustainability, how to check for fresh fish and about the ingredients for tartare sauce.
Earlier in the week, Blowers visited Parliament as LACA held an event for MPs to sample a hot school meal.
In Derbyshire, Alan Hill from the Cavendish Hotel and Gareth Jones from REMS café bar and restaurant joined children from Chapel en le Frith Primary school for a scone baking session on Wednesday.
