The LACA Yorkshire & Humberside region handed out seven awards to celebrate the work of frontline catering teams and their achievements over the past year.

The host for the evening Damien O’Brien, regional vice chair from Bradford FM Catering, acknowledged the many challenges caterers had faced over the last year. He began by presenting a personal account of each nomination for every award.

A spokesperson for Hopwells, sponsors of the LACA Yorkshire & Humberside Regional Awards for Excellence Event, said: “Being nominated for an award not only brings recognition and acknowledgment of contribution at an awards ceremony but can last long into the future.

“Pride and self-motivation for an individual or team too. The kudos of such recognition programs cannot be underestimated by our whole industry and individual businesses, as we seek more ways to retain and attract our colleagues and work partners.

The winners included:

  • Primary School of the Year (sponsored by Falcon Food Service Equipment): Catering team from St Mary’s & St Peter’s Catholic Primary School, Bradford FM Catering Services.
  • Secondary School of the Year (sponsored by YPO): Team from Fulford Secondary School, York, NYES Catering (North Yorkshire Council).
