LACA’s DfE Award winners visit Houses of Parliament

Pupils from Swindon’s Haydonleigh Primary School visited the Houses of Parliament on October 14th as part of their prize for winning the LACA/DfE School Food Achievement Award at the LACA Awards for Excellence 2016.
Catering manager Karen McFadyen, headteacher Mrs Billinge, and deputy head Mrs Peapell, joined members of the school council on the tour of Parliament, which was followed by lunch in Parliament Square and a Thames boat tour.
The school council also got the opportunity to speak to the Department for Education’s Healthy Pupils Unity deputy director Harriet Becher, who told the children all about the department’s role in school food.
