LACA’s Grab ‘N’ Go Challenge, which is sponsored by SchoolGrid, has unveiled the line-up of judges for the competition who will be led by head judge Mark Sargeant.

The Grab ‘N’ Go Challenge invites school chefs to design, cook and serve a nutritious food item that can be eaten ‘on-the-go’ by youngsters. Chefs have until Friday 5th April 2024 to register and submit their entry form.

Competitors are required to prepare cook and present four portions of a Grab ‘N’ Go/breaktime savoury snack with a total cost per head of 80p.

The panel of judges are looking forward to tasting the successful entries at the cook-off in May. The judging panel includes:

  • Mark Sargeant – Chair of Judges
  • Holly Charnock – LACA Judge
  • Luke Hall – Student judge
  • Lin O'Brien MBE - SchoolGrid Judge

Dugald Curtis, chief executive at SchoolGrid, said: “LACA’s Grab ‘N’ Go Challenge is a fantastic opportunity for school chefs to showcase their skills. We’re delighted to be the 2024 sponsor, and we are looking forward to supporting the competitors throughout the process.

“As a proactive supporter of providing good school food for young people, we are excited that all entries this year will use our award-wining kitchen management software to nutritionally analyse their recipes. We wish all competitors good luck!”

The overall winner will receive £1,000 worth of prizes as well as the opportunity to demonstrate their winning recipe at the LACA Main Event.
