LACA’s NSMW to focus on green issues
LACA looks forward to a near normal NSMW in 2022, with all restrictions eased and the majority of meal service back to full capacity. We know school caterers across the country are working hard to lessen the impact we, as an industry, have on the planet, LACA wish to celebrate and showcase this.
Incoming LACA chair Brad Pearce commented: “I would like everyone to get involved with this year’s theme ‘Together, we make a difference’. We know school meals have such a positive effect on children’s attainment and development, but school caterers are also making a huge impact on green issues, lessening their impact on the planet as together, we tackle environmental issues such as reducing food waste, reducing food miles and increasing the amount of plant based foods children eat.”
As well as the ‘Together, we make a difference’ campaign, there are five new theme days members can adapt and run. The promotions don’t have to be hard work, you can be as creative as you like or run them alongside your own menus with meat free days and roast dinner day.
The NSMW22 logo is available for use on your own marketing materials and for use on social media. The resources for NSMW22 will be available from September for you to download, edit and print to make the week your own.
The support material section has everything you need to run your own school tucker trial, the theme day and activity section will also have five brand new themes for the week. Posters available in English and Welsh.
