A group of local authority catering managers have successfully completed the Institute of Hospitality’s Level 3 Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism Management as delivered by Kendal College in the Lake District.

The qualification has been funded by the Local Authority Caterers’ Association (LACA) and the Savoy Educational Trust for the last three years.

The successful 2012 candidates celebrated their achievements during a recent graduation ceremony at Kendal College. The managers came from local authorities across England.

Those celebrating were: Jane Barber and Samantha Hess, Bolton Council School Meals; Denise Bartley, Wrexham County Borough Council; Gill Dodd, Yvonne Buckley and Jane Malam of Warwickshire County Caterers; Lisa Giles, Eden Foodservice, Bristol; Tracy Fiddament, Hertfordshire Catering, Welwyn Garden City; Nicola Meade, Solihull Catering Services.

John Cunningham, director of professional development, Institute of Hospitality, commented: “This successful training and development partnership between LACA, Kendal College and the Institute of Hospitality is having very positive results year after year.

“The Institute of Hospitality’s Diplomas are specially designed to be flexible and accessible to those with busy working lives. We are delighted to see more and more public sector catering managers benefiting from these courses.”

The Institute of Hospitality is the professional body for individual managers and aspiring managers working and studying in the hospitality, leisure and tourism industry.
