Order of the day – pupils demand more Mexican foods

Wholesaler BB Foodservice has unveiled its 10 most frequently ordered foods by UK schools last year, and it features both Mexican and Indian favourites.
Counting over 3,000 schools as clients, the company said tortilla wraps and sour cream were among the most frequently ordered items.
The top 10 is as below:
- Frozen chips
- Chopped tomatoes
- Tinned Tuna
- Rice
- Tortilla wraps
- Tikka Masala sauce
- Fish fingers
- Sour cream
- Baked Beans
Sales director Tony Holmes commented: “Looking at the sorts of products schools have been buying most frequently, it’s clear that Mexican dishes like fajitas and burritos have quickly become firm favourites on the school menu – up there with the likes of fish fingers and spaghetti carbonara.”
